About You Can Rescue
We rescue, you can too!
You Can Rescue is an animal rescue movement that was founded in 2024 by three women who are very passionate about animal welfare and making difference in the rescue community. You Can Rescue was brought to life after the founders realized the work they were doing had an impact on people in the community, and helped to inspire those to get involved in animal rescue even if they could not foster or adopt.
The You Can Rescue movement is dedicated to encouraging people to get involved in their rescue community. We provide ideas and resources for individuals to take action and make a difference in the lives of animals. Your support helps us continue our mission assisting shelters in the southern region. With your support, the YCR movement has the ability to grow and reach more communities beyond the Carolinas and change even more lives, both human and four-legged.

Our Dedicated Team
Meet the passionate individuals who drive our mission forward and work tirelessly to make a positive impact on animal welfare.

Carly
Carly's animal rescue journey started very early in life. Her family always had an abundance of cats and dogs in the home. Wether it was adopting from the local humane society, taking in strays, or even rehabbing wildlife, animals were always present. One of Carly's favorite things to do growing up was visit the local humane society and spend time with the adoptable dogs and cats. She officially fostered her first dog in college, which came from a rural shelter in South Carolina. She soon realized there was a whole other world of rescue outside of a no-kill humane society, and knew that the rescue world needed her. She fostered for many years before starting her non-profit rescue organization called "The Bridge Between". She continues to operate the animal rescue, now with the assistance of a few others, including YCR founder Niykee who is the foster coordinator for Bridge Between. Carly has 3 personal dogs, 2 cats, a guinea pig, a horse, and always has a handful of fosters. Carly helped design the logo for YCR and build the website. She has a love for writing which helps share the stories of shelters and rescues all over.

Alicia
Alicia's animal rescue journey began back in 2021 when she started her fostering journey. She carries one of our favorite mentalities, which is that there is no competition in the animal rescue world, embodying this by fostering for multiple rescues in the Charleston area, taking turns supporting each. Alicia has not only fostered many dogs over the years, but has given back to local shelters and rescues by volunteering her time at rescue facilities, and hosting pilates events dedicated to raising funds and bringing adoption interest to rescues. Alicia also co-founded a program called "Pretty Pampered Pup" with YCR founder Niykee, spending lots of her free time helping organize and host activities for the community to volunteer with their local shelter. Alicia is also an active foster for Carly's rescue, The Bridge Between. Alicia and her husband have two personal dogs, and always have a handful of fosters from local Charleston rescue organizations. Alicia has a love for fashion and is the creative brain behind our merchandise, designing some amazing products that help support our mission.

Niykee
Niykee's animal rescue journey began back in 2018 when she fostered under a local animal rescue. She eventually landed in the Vice President role, helping the rescue successfully operate for many years. She took a break from the admin side of rescue, but began a program called "Pretty Pampered Pup" that focused on giving dogs a day out of the shelter and exploring around town, capturing content to help appeal to potential adopters. She began fostering for Carly's rescue, The Bridge Between, in 2023 and deep dove back into rescue by working her way up to the Foster Coordinator position. Aside from working with Bridge Between, she runs the social media for Colleton County Animal Shelter, and founded an official program called "Pretty Pampered Pup" that focuses on pampered pup days, and pack walks that the community can participate in and help local shelters. Niykee has 8 dogs, 1 cat, and always has a handful of fosters. Niykee is our content queen with an eye for visuals who helps create the majority of the shelter videos and pictures for YCR.
